Sleep Lost

Surrounded on all sides

the enemy is closing in

the friend he always cries out for

is no longer answering

he wants to run away

run far away to find where his friend is

hiding

hiding in the shadows,

all the way to find what has been hidden from him

he only seeks to find what he desires

alas an empty shell surrounds him

so defeated he hangs his head in shame

the friend has deserted him

where is the sleep he so longs for?

where is the sandman?

finding him, he loses himself

wastes away as he dreams peacefully

while the world around him burns

turning him into but a hollow shell

whilst he slumbers peacefully

finding what he desired, and he shall sleep

forever more
